Motorola has just announced their intriguing new MOTO U9. Despite earlier leaked information to the contrary, the music oriented MOTO U9 will belong to neither the PEBL nor ROKR series, no doubt a move made to avoid family conflicts.

The very lightweight and stylish clamshell phone weighs in at just 87.5 g and measures only 90mm x 48.6mm x 16.4mm. The internal display is a very nice 2 inch QVGA 262k one, with the outer one being a 1.45" 65K-color OLED. The external one does look borderless like the manufacturer claims and when you activate the music player, touch sensitive keys appear at the bottom edge. As you would expect, it supports Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP profile, so you can listen to music with a stereo Bluetooth headphones. For rapid transfers, there is a USB 2.0 port. The MOTO U9 sports a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording capability. While the internal memory is a mere 25MB, that is expandable to 4GB thanks to the microSD card slot. One further advance with the MOTO is the addition of CrystalTalk technology, which, according to Motorola, will give you better clarity in a noisy environment.

After looking at the official photos, it seems the unique dual hinge feature of the PEBL U6 has been replaced by a much more conventional solution. Thus far, Motorola has not divulged any information regarding pricing or availability, but we are expecting the release date to be very soon.
