Samsung i550 and Giorgio Armani Mobile official

Samsung recently announced  several exciting additions to its portfolio of mobile phones, both of which are sure to develop loyal fans. If looks are your thing, then you will go for the one with the Armani styling; if you are more of a function person, then you need the smartphone with the built in GPS.
It has been some time since we first heard of the partnership between Giorgio Armani and Samsung, so a collective sigh of relief was heard when the announcement went out that the project was complete. Officially unveiled at Armani’s Spring Summer fashion show, the P520 working title has been dropped and the official name is the Giorgio Armani-Samsung Mobile. In addition to the looks one would expect from one of the leading fashion companies in the world, the new phone sports a wide variety of desirable features as well. A large 2.6 inch touchscreen display, it features 262 colors and  QVGA resolution. The 3 megapixel camera is more than respectable for a fashion phone and you will appreciate the haptic feedback on the screen as well.
Other welcome features include Bluetooth and A2DP (as you have come to expect from Samsung), high speed USB connectivity and a microSD memory slot for memory storage. All these features are packed into a surprisingly small package that weighs in at a very slight 85 grams and is less than 88mm long.
The press release from Samsung said the retail package will include an Armani designed leather carrying case and that the phone will be available at all Armani flagship stores and selected European mobile phone retailers after November of 2007. Pricing information is yet to be released.
For the function junkie, Samsung is releasing the Samsung i550; a Symbian–powered smartphone with a built in GPS receiver. Rumors have circulated about the included features; it appears not much has been left out. A high end 3G enabled phone, with Bluetooth 2.0, HSDPA and EDGE data transfer, the phone will showcase a 2.6 inch 262k-color display (QVGA resolution). In keeping with the multimedia appeal, there is a, FM radio as well as the now expected 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera. The i550 is running the Symbian 9.2 operating system as was anticipated. One area the phone really shines is memory, with 150 MB of internal memory, expandable by the addition of a microSD card in the built in slot.
The Samsung i550 is slated to be released in November of 2007 but so far, no information has been released about its anticipated retail cost..
